Riu Rau House

Riu Rau House is a single-storey family home located in the Sierra de Marnes, on the Costa Blanca, deeply connected to the area’s traditional architecture.

The project takes the riurau as its starting point, reinterpreting it as a continuous element that runs through the entire house, turning it into a lived passage. More than a transitional space, this gesture structures the home and mediates the relationship between interior, exterior and landscape.

The architecture unfolds horizontally, adapting to the terrain and establishing a direct connection with its surroundings. Interior spaces open onto the riurau, creating shaded areas, gentle transitions and a sequence of rooms experienced at a slower pace.

Honest materials and a restrained palette reinforce the serene character of the house, where tradition and contemporaneity coexist without nostalgia.

Riu Rau House proposes a way of living rooted in climate, time and landscape, understanding architecture as a calm framework for everyday life.
